Global ranking of energy storage system shipments released

On August 6th, InfoLink Consulting, a new energy research institution, released a report showing that in the first half of 2024, the global shipment scale of energy storage cells was 114.5GWh, a year-on-year increase of 33.6%. Among them, the large storage (including industrial and commercial) is 101.9 GWh, and the small storage (including communication) is 12.6 GWh.

Regarding energy storage systems, the InfoLink Global Lithium Battery Supply Chain Database states that the global shipment of energy storage systems in the first half of 2024 is approximately 90 GWh. In the first half of the year, the top 5 system integrators on the communication side were Tesla, Sunac, CRRC Zhuzhou, Fluence, and Farview Energy Storage, with a total shipment of over 30 GWh.

Among the top five global energy storage system integrators with a focus on communication, China accounts for three of the top five companies in terms of shipment volume, namely Sunshine Power, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute, and Yuanjing Energy Storage.

Energy storage system integrator refers to an enterprise that provides customers with complete sets of energy storage system products for the purpose of carrying out energy storage system integration business. The AC side energy storage system includes a complete set of AC/DC equipment that can be directly connected to the grid, while the DC side does not include AC side equipment. Currently, mainstream system integrators generally provide a complete set of AC/DC solutions.

Compared to CRRC Zhuzhou, which mainly focuses on the domestic market, Sunac Power and Farview Energy Storage are more dominant in overseas markets.

According to reports, Far East Energy Storage has recently won the bid for two energy storage projects in the UK, becoming a supplier to Masdar Energy in Abu Dhabi. It will provide complete sets of AC/DC energy storage equipment, SCADA and EMS systems for its UK subsidiary Arlington Energy’s two projects, Welkin Road and Royle Barn Road. The projects are expected to be connected to the grid and delivered in the first half of 2025. The projects will all be 2-hour energy storage systems with a total capacity of 110MWh.
